More Information

  • History/Legend of the Temple The Tale of the Pavala Vanna Perumal temple revolves around Lord Brahma's yagna. Goddess Saraswathy enraged that she was not a part of it, summoned demons to cause havoc. Lord Vishnu battled the devils and ensured that the yagna ran properly. The God here is coral-colored. In the Pachai Vanna Perumal shrine, it is claimed that the Lord bestowed a boon to Sage Bhrigu that Mahalakshmi would be born as his daughter, Hargavi. Lord Vishnu later married Bhargavi at this sacred location. In this temple, the Lord is emerald, green in colour. This temple is part of the famous Kanchipuram Divya Desam Yatra.

  • For the best experience / Must know It is stated that both the Pacchai and Pavala Vannan perumal must be worshiped together. Pacchai Vannar Sannadhi is located across from Pavala Vannar Sannadhi. Despite the fact that Mangalasasanam is not conducted at Pacchai Vannar sannadhi, the temples are considered one and must be worshiped as a single Divya desam. Pacchai Vannar, also known as "Maragatha Vannar," says in this sthalam that he is Lord Shiva's hamsam (a form), whereas Pavala Vannar is Para Sakthi's hamsam. As a result, it is said that worshiping both sthalams at the same time honors Lord Shiva and Parashakti.
  • Not to miss This style of sitting posture atop the massive serpent is only found in a few Perumal temples in India, primarily in Tamil Nadu, and it is definitely distinct. It is thought that when devotees visit these perumal temples, they are also honoring Lord Shiva and Parvathi.
  • Note for Travelers Pavalavannam Temple is situated in the heart of Kanchipuram, around 70 km from Chennai. There are a range of transit and hotel choices nearby. The temple is near Kamakshi Amman Temple and the Kanchipuram Railway Station.
